A Circle, A Line

"Every encounter, no matter how strange or new, eventually reveals the patterns of possibility innate to the life before it."

In “A Circle, A Line,” Hannah Black writes about the real and unreal memories that appear in the drawings of the self-taught, black artist Joseph Yoakum. Black’s evocation of Yoakum’s partially remembered worlds makes vivid the past’s ongoing vulnerability to destruction.
